Bridge named player of the round

Warrington player Chris Bridge has been named Frontline Player of the Round following his performance during Warrington’s 54-24 win over Harlequins.

Bridge racked up a total of 1064 points in the Frontline rankings this week, with an impressive tally of four tries helping him on his way. He carried the ball 24 times for a total of 171 meters in attack and also had an impressive game in defence, making 24 tackles with no missed tackles.

Wigan Warriros full-back Sam Tomkins and St Helens hooker James Roby earned their selection in the Frontline team of the week with scores of 982 and 900 respectively and it is Tomkins who still leads the way with the highest individual score so far this season with 1,335 points. Roby remains the highest scoring player of the season so far with a total of 17,223.

A total of seven team are represented in the Team of the Round, with Francis Meli and Jamie Foster joining Roby in a trio of St Helens representatives, while Gareth Hock and Paul Wood join Tomkins and Bridge as Wigan and Warrington’s second representatives in the team.

Bradford are represented by Ben Jeffries and Paul Sykes with Hull KR also represented by a duo in the form of Michael Dobson and Rhys Lovegrove. Leeds winger Ryan Hall is the Rhinos’ sole representative while Jason Chan earned his inclusion for Crusaders.

Points are calculated from every action made by players with every involvement given a points value depending on the importance and frequency of the action. For example a try would be the highest scoring value, with actions such as tackles and carries scoring smaller values. Mistakes such as handling errors or penalties conceded would incur negative values.

At the end of a match, all the players’ actions are added together to give a game score. The 13 individuals with the highest scores in each position on the field of play earns inclusion in the Frontline Index Team of the Week with the highest scoring individual earning the Frontline Index Player of the Week title.
