Wakefield Wildcats have confirmed that Brian Smith will be staying on as the club’s head coach in 2016.
The 61-year-old coach will look to build on winning the Million Pound Game, and keeping Trinity in Super League by the skn of their teeth in 2015.
New announcements regarding signings are expected shortly, with eight or nine new players on their way.
“I am ecstatic to have got him for next year,” Wakefield chairman Michael Carter told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“He is a fantastic bloke to work with and he’s been a breath of fresh air for everyone at the club, from the cleaners to the on-field staff.
“I hope it shows the fans our intentions. I don’t think Brian would have done that if we weren’t backing him as a board and club so that shows what we’re intending for 2016.
“He is looking to build the club for the next 10 years, on and off the field and I’m delighted to have got Brian to commit,”
