Brett Stewart has been given the green light to play in the first round of the NRL after his contract was approved by the governing bodies.

Ian Schubert, the salary cap auditor has confirmed the four year deal with the Manly Sea Eagles and the full-back is in contention for the game against the Brisbane Broncos.

Manly general manager David Perry said: “The Manly Sea Eagles have had confirmation that all outstanding NRL contracts will be registered by round one as required. The club has been working closely with the NRL for some time like any other NRL club to get to this point.

“I respect some frustration in relation to the issue but this process takes time and is complicated for all involved. This is the first time the Sea Eagles have faced such issues, however, it is not unprecedented with other clubs over the years. We can now look forward to getting on with the football ahead and look forward to a promising season for the game.”
