Brett Stewart close to new Manly deal

Manly star Brett Stewart says he is “not far away” from signing a new deal with the Sea Eagles.

Negotiations over a contract that will see Stewart remain at Brookvale for the rest of his career are at an advanced stage, according to the 27-year-old full back.

“I don’t want to go anywhere,” Stewart told Manly’s official website.

“I always wanted to see my career out here, so fingers crossed.”

Stewart’s future has been the future of intense speculation with a number of Super League and NRL clubs interested in his signature.

He has also been linked with a move to play rugby union with London Irish, but NSW Origin player Stewart says the deal to keep him on the northern beaches is all but sealed.

“I think a few loose ends are getting tied up,” added Stewart.

“My manager and the club are getting close to it so not far off now.

“It’s been around a little while but it’s not far off, put it that way.”
