Whitehaven have announced that former Scotland international Brett Phillips has re-signed for the 2021 Championship season.

Phillips, 31, joined the club ahead of the 2019 season having had a year out of the sport. He has since made 22 appearances for Whitehaven, scoring four tries.

He said: “I’m happy to sign for another year at Whitehaven. The squad looks to be taking shape nicely and I’m excited to get back to training.”

Assistant coach, Jonty Gorley, added: “It’s great to have Brett on board again for next season. He brings a wealth of experience, having played in the Championship previously and also at international level with Scotland.

“Brett is a leader, talks well and someone who helps steady us on the pitch. Add to that his size, and how he plays the game, Brett is a massive asset for us.”
