Bradford Bulls provide head coach recruitment update

Bradley Ho has signed a new two-year deal with Bradford.

Bradford Bulls chairman Nigel Wood has revealed further details behind their recruitment process for their next head coach.

Bradford parted ways with John Kear last week by mutual consent. The 67-year-old initially joined the Odsal Stadium side in 2018, and led them to promotion back to the Championship at the first time of asking.

He led the Bulls to a famous Challenge Cup win over Leeds Rhinos in 2019. Last year, the club recorded its highest league finish in six years, securing a play-off berth in the process.

Now, Bradford search for their next head coach, as Mark Dunning currently takes charge on an interim basis.

In a since deleted statement on the club website, Wood said: “As I hope you would have expected, we will run a full and thorough recruitment process for a vital appointment of this magnitude.

“It is more important to get it right, rather than make it quick.

“We will advertise but in reality, rugby league is a small world and there’s a fair chance everyone who needs to know probably already does. Nevertheless, we want to make the process transparent and clear.

“We have already received a dozen expressions of interest from really high calibre and qualified individuals, from England and overseas. It is clear the role is still extremely sought after, which is pleasing.

“In the meantime, Mark Dunning is in the driving seat; he has everyone’s full support and encouragement to see what can be achieved on his watch and the team appear to have reacted positively last weekend.

“We don’t want to put a specific timeline on the recruitment process as some candidates might have existing contracts, but I would expect interviews to be taking place at the back end of this month.”

Bradford bounced back from their recent form with a 34-22 victory over Whitehaven in the Championship.
