Boyd looking to improve

He may have collected an NRL premiership and a Dally M winners medal last year, but Dragons full-back Darius Boyd has no intention to rest on his laurels.

Boyd, 23, was possibly the club’s most consistent performer in 2010, finishing up with a man-of-the match award for his performance in the Grand Final victory over the Roosters.

He also starred in Queensland’s fifth straight series win over New South Wales in the State of Origin series and appeared in Australia‘s Four Nations group match win over New Zealand.

Despite enjoying such a successful season in 2010, Boyd is ramping up his efforts even more in a bid to improve.

“You always want to be the best you can be and keep trying to improve every year,” said Boyd.

“During the break I did a few beach runs but it’s good now being back doing pre-season training.

“There are a lot of things I’m trying to do in the game that I haven’t done yet so I have to keep working hard to reach those goals.

“I’m looking forward to a great start to the season.”

The Dragons start their pre-season fixture programme with their traditional Charity Shield match against St George on Sunday February 13.

They face Canterbury the following weekend in another trial match, before travelling to the UK to take on Super League champions Wigan Warriors on February 27.
