Bowen refreshed after Wigan break

Wigan full-back Matty Bowen has acknowledged that some time out of the first team has refreshed him, ready for the rest of the season.

He has also paid tribite to Ryan Hampshire, who deputised for him during his absence.

“Rocky played well and we won all of those games,” Bowen told his club’s official wesbite.

“It’s a healthy thing to have competition for spots. I’ve got my chance now and hopefully I can keep it. I want to play more games, Rocky has a big future ahead of him he’s only young and he’s still learning.

“It’s freshened me up a bit (the break). I was still training with the team, it was frustrating being on the sidelines but I just had to bide my time and wait for my opportunity and thankfully I got it.

“I just need to keep improving now week by week, helping the team out however I can.”
