Matt Bowen will remain with North Queensland for at least the next two years after signing a new contract.

Fullback Bowen, 29, has decided to extend his current deal until the end of the 2013 season but has not ruled out playing on.

“This is a great club to be part of and being a North Queensland boy, it’s just special being part of the Cowboys,” said Bowen.

“We have a great list of talent here, and coming through our under-20s and junior programs, so I’m looking forward to being part of it for the next two years. “

Toyota Cowboys General Manager – Football Peter Parr said securing Bowen for another two years was fantastic news for the Cowboys.

“To many people, Matthew epitomises the Cowboys,” he said.

“He is a very popular man not only in North Queensland, but in the rugby league world in general, for what he brings to our game.

“His career has been a great story and we’re happy it’s going to continue with us.

“I’m sure there are going to be thousands of people excited to hear that Matthew will be staying at the Cowboys.”

In addition to retaining Bowen, the club have also annouced the capture of Sydney Roosters centre Kane Linnett on a two-year deal.

Meanwhile prop Leeson Ah Mau will leave the club at the end of the year to join the St George Illawarra Dragons.
