Bloom appeal thrown out

The RFL disciplinary committee has thrown out an appeal by London’s Oliver Bloom against his six-month touchline ban.

The back-rower was handed the ban, three months of which was suspended, for his part in the incident against Doncaster last month which saw head coach Joe Mbu also banned.

Bloom, a player who was assisting the Skolars coaching staff on the day of the game, admitted the offence but argued that the punishment was harsh, a view that was not shared by the panel who ruled that as vice-captain, the player had a responsibility to act in a proper manner.

The ban was imposed on March 30 for punching in the opposition dug-out during the Championship 1 fixture.
