Canberra Raiders star Blake Austin has been linked with a move to make himself available to play for England.

According to Rugby League Week, Austin is eligible for England through heritage grounds and has been approached by Wayne Bennett to make the switch.

It is believed he is eligible through an English grandparent.

Sydney-born and raised Austin came through the Penrith junior ranks and made his NRL debut for the Panthers in 2011.

He moved to West Tigers, before joining Canberra in 2015.

The 25-year old has played City Origin for NSW and six times for Portugal.

Austin was in the frame for State of Origin selection for the Blues in 2015.

A stand-off, Austin can also play at lock and fullback.
