Melbourne centre Maurice Blair has apologised after being arrested for an alleged assault.

He has also been fined an undisclosed amount and stood down from playing duties for a fortnight after an altercation with a woman in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The incident happened just hours after the Storm’s 30-6 victory over Gold Coast.

“I would like to apologise to my family, friends, fans and all the stakeholders of Melbourne Storm for my involvement in the incident,” Blair said in a statement.

“Everyone at Melbourne Storm is well educated and fully aware of our requirements when it comes to respectful relationships and the decisions we make.

“If I had my time again I would have made a better choice to ignore the situation.

“I have been fully cooperative with everyone involved and I have accepted the outcomes.

“My focus will be on working hard to get back into the team.”
