Blair admits Super League took him by surprise

Hull KR utility man Maurice Blair has acknowledged that Super League is a much more demanding competition than he anticipated it being when he joined Rovers last year.

Although signed primarily as a stand-off, Blair also played much of his rugby in 2015 in the back row.

The season took a physical toll on him, and he is workin hard in preseason to improve his fitness ahead of the 2016 campaign.

“I found Super League a lot tougher than expected, especially towards the back end of the year,” Blair told the Hull Daily Mail.

“I didn’t realise how many games we would end up playing!

“I was pretty burnt out by the end of it, to be honest, but I’m a lot fitter now than I was last year.

“I should now be able to be a lot stronger to finish out the year.”
