Bird signs with Catalans

Greg Bird has left the Gold Coast Titans and is expected to link up with Catalans.

Today Bird was given a release by the Titans. A long standing promise between Bird and Chairman Bernard Guasch see’s Bird return to finish his career at the Catalans Dragons as promised.

Bird played 23 games for Catalans in 2009, scoring five tries.

He said: “I had always intented to return to the Dragons and promised Bernard I would come back and win a premiership.

“They reached out to me and offerd me a long term deal this week which I was only to happy to agreed to.

“I have fond memories of my time at the Dragons, it’s a wonderful place to live and my wife and I are excited to be taking on this new chapter in our lives.”

CEO Christophe Jouffret said: “It’ was always going to happen, we have kept in contact with Greg and his manager Chris Orr evrey year and enquired about when Greg was going to return.

“He is the type of player our team needs to lead us on the field and with his experience and extremly competitive nature we look forward to having him again playing in the Catalan Dragons jersey.”

Catalns has agreed to assist Bird’s aspirations to one day Coach professionnaly.

He will work alongside the club’s junior coaches whilst playing and the take up an assistant coach’s position with Super League Team in the final two years of his contract.
