Billy Slater could miss the third and deciding State of Origin match through injury.

Slater injured his left knee during Wednesday’s second match of the series, in which New South Wales won 16-12 at ANZ Stadium.

However Slater continued to play in the match whilst carrying the injury.

The injury could see him miss the next 4-6 weeks, which would rule him out of the final Origin game at Suncorp Stadium in less than three weeks time.

The Melbourne Storm fullback went to Twitter to break the news to his followers.

He tweeted: “Scans showed I’ve done my PCL in my knee. Looking at missing 4-6 weeks. Disappointed but I’m positive about getting it right.”
