Bibby makes Oldham move

Salford outside back Jake Bibby has joined Championship side Oldham on a one month loan.

The 20-year old centre or winger will join Roughyeds at training tomorrow night and will be in contention for the squad to play Dewsbury Rams at Bower Fold on Sunday.

Bibby made his Super League debut for Salford last year.

“Jake is well thought of at Salford, where he is on the fringe of the first team,” Oldham coach Scott Naylor said.

“He is an outside back and we don’t have a great deal of those. He’s a new face and he’ll make the squad a little bit bigger. I’m looking forward to working with him.

“Hopefully, we’ll both get a lot out of the loan. He’ll link up with us on Thursday and all things being equal he’ll be in the frame with everyone else for Sunday.”

The deal was steered through and finalised by Oldham chairman Chris Hamilton and Salford coach Ian Watson.

“Salford expect Jake to play in Super League this year, but they’re keen for him to get some experience first at our level,” Hamilton said.

“Other clubs were also after him so we’re grateful to Salford and Ian Watson for helping us to nail it.”
