Bevan French out for season but will remain at Wigan in 2022

Wigan full-back Bevan French has been ruled out for the rest of the season, but he has exercised his option for next year in his current deal.

The 25-year-old suffered a hamstring injury against Salford last month and following surgical hamstring repair, he has now returned home to Australia where he will undergo a period of rehabilitation.

Wigan have announced that French has exercised his option for next year in his current deal and will return to Wigan in 2022 for the start of pre-season.

French said: “I’m obviously upset about my injury and the duration of it, but the silver lining is that it has allowed me to re-visit home during a very difficult time for me and my family.

“I have specific goals I would like to achieve whilst at Wigan and I have yet to do those things which plays a role in my decision to take up my option.

“The club staff and squad members have also been very understanding of my situation at home which makes me want to re-pay the club and its fans the following season.”
