Betts wants to take Widnes home form on their travels

Widnes coach Denis Betts says they need to find a way of transferring their impressive home form to games away from the Stobart Stadium.

The Vikings are four games unbeaten at home this season, but have managed just two away wins since they returned to Super League at the start of 2012.

They travel to bottom placed Castleford on Saturday, seeking a win in front of the SKY TV cameras.

Betts said: “I think we’ve been pretty good at home all the way through Super League. We’ve had a couple of blips but all in all I think our home form has been very, very good.

“It’s where we train, it’s where do things, our gym is there – it’s our home and when we play there the attitude’s a little bit different at the moment

“We need to transfer that across to all our games and find that consistency. We need to work hard at but if anybody would have asked me, I would have taken home form over away form every day of the week.

“I think we’re in a good place at the moment now we just need to find a way of transferring that across (to away games).”

Widnes have shipped 214 points in their last four away games, and have been nilled in a half in each of those trips, against Hull KR, Catalan, Wigan and Huddersfield.

They opened the 2013 season with an away win over London Broncos – their only success away from the Stobart Stadium last year came against Salford.
