Widnes coach Denis Betts has made no bones about his ambition to work with new England coach Wayne Bennett in the international scene.

The Vikings tactician is keen to develop his career, but acknowledges that he is just one amongst many potential candidates for the role.

“I’d love to be in the reckoning with that,” he said.

“There’s a number of candidates throughout the English game at the moment, which is exciting for the English game.

Paul Anderson has had a fantastic three or four years as a head coach. Daryl Powell has had a great few years, and has worked in the English game for a long time.

Lee Radford‘s doing a great job at Hull FC.

“I’d like to put myself in that mix as well, as English coaches who want to be on the international scene and get a chance to work with Wayne Bennett.”
