Betts excited to meet ‘exceptional’ Leeds

Widnes coach Denis Betts is looking forward to facing a Leeds team he regards as being very fine indeed.

The Rhinos travel across the Pennines to face the Vikings on Sunday, and Betts knows his team will need to be at their best to have a chance of victory.

“It’s exciting for us,” he said.

“We can’t control what they’ve done at the start of the year.

“Leeds are always a formidable opponent. This week we get the chance to play against the first or second best team in the world – that will be decided the week after we play them.

“They’re the best team in this competition, and they’re a very tough side to play against becuase of the way they play.

“Also, it’s not just the style of play they have, but their attitude. The ability that lies within their team is exceptional.”
