Young Castleford half-back Ben Johnston has penned a new two-year deal with the club.

Johnston, 20, made his Super League debut in 2012 and joins fellow academy product Charlie Martin in committing to the Tigers until the end of 2014.

CEO Steve Ferres said: “As I have said, we have a rich source of great young players in the Castleford district and the future of this club is in developing this talent through our youth development scheme.

“Johnston and Martin are perfect examples of this; both have shown great potential over the past year and we hope to see even more from them in 2013.”

Johnston joined from local amateur side Lock Lane in 2010, while second-rower Martin has been with the club for three years, and was recently announced as being promoted to full-time training for next season.
