St Helens star Ben Barba has been cleared of serious injury after being taken to hospital with a neck problem.

Barba, 28, suffered the injury shortly after scoring his hat-trick try during the 60-10 win at Salford on Thursday night.

He was carried off in a beck brace after receiving treatment on the pitch.

St Helens tweeted: “Pleased to report that Ben was cleared of any serious injury last night after being seen in hospital.

“He will be assessed by our medical team this morning and we’ll update you all later in the day.”

Barba has since been given the all clear by the club’s medical staff and will continue to be monitored by them over the next few days.

The former Canterbury Bulldogs and Brisbane Broncos full-back has made a blistering start to his career at St Helens, having made the move towards the back end of last season.

He has scored 15 tries in 12 appearances this term to help his side sit top of the Super League table.
