Beale: Wigan won’t be a walkover

Cronulla outside back Gerard Beale says the Sharks aren’t expecting an easy match against Wigan on Sunday.

The NRL champions take on Super League’s champions this weekend in the World Club Challenge.

The NRL sides have dominated recent encounters between the two competitions, but Beale said his side is taking nothing for granted.

“We don’t look into past results, I guess looking at last year the NRL had great success,” he told Sky Sports News.

“We dont expect it to be that easy or that way this year. We’re making sure we’re doing everything right.

“I feel like it will be [fiery].”

Cronulla have never played in the World Club Challenge before, with the 2016 grand final win their first premiership trophy.

“The way we’re looking at it, it’s another chance to win a trophy and I guess add to our trophy cabinet,” Beale said.

“It’s certainly going to be tough and we’re expecting a really tough game.”
