In an incredible gesture of kindness and support, Batley forward Michael Ward is set to shave his head in memory of Beverley Nicholas.

Beverley, wife of Bulldogs Chairman Kevin Nicholas, recently lost a long battle with cancer. Following the news, Ward immediately spoke to Chairman Kevin Nicholas to discuss his plans.

Michael has set up a Just Giving page to raise sponsorship, with all money received donated to Breast Cancer Charities as part of Beverley’s Pink Weekend fundraiser, which will go ahead in August this year.

The hair will be donated to The Little Princess Trust charity, an organisation which provides wigs to children and young people who have lost theirs due to cancer treatments and other conditions.

“I decided three years ago that I was going to grow my hair out,” Ward said. “With what’s happened with Beverley’s passing, I thought it would be a fantastic way to remember her.”

The 28-year-old will Brave the Shave at The Fox’s Biscuits Stadium after the game against York City Knights on 14th July.
