Batley pair have betting bans reduced

Batley pair Jonny Campbell and Ayden Faal have had their bans for breaching betting rules reduced on appeal.

Campbell bet on last season’s Championship Grand Final against Sheffield, a game in which he played, and has had his ban reduced from 12 months to nine.

Meanwhile, Faal, who was suspended for placing a bet on the first points of the same game and didn’t play, had his ban reduced from six to four.

Under RFL Operational Rules, players are forbidden from betting on any rugby league match or competition.

Last month, Halifax winger Rob Worrincy was handed a six month ban for breaching betting rules.
