Bateman joint favourite to be Man of Steel

Wigan back-rower John Bateman has been named as joint-favourite to win the 2017 Super League Man of Steel by bookmakers Betfred.

The Warriors man is priced at 16/1, along with Warrington duo Chris Hill and Daryl Clark, and his club mate George Williams.

Wire’s new halfback Kevin Brown also appears near the top of the list, at 20/1, along with Castleford full back Zak Hardaker, Warrington’s Kurt Gidley and his Tigers teammate Luke Gale.

Last season’s winner, Hull FC hooker Danny Houghton, is priced at 25/1, along with Saints fullback Jonny Lomax, his team mate Marc Sneyd, the injured Matty Smith, and Wigan returnee Thomas Leuluai.
