Bastian to leave Wolves role

Warrington’s director of youth development, John Bastian, will leave the club at the end of the year.

Bastian joined the Wolves from Leeds five years ago and has established strong foundations for players coming through the club’s development programme.

Lance James, director at the club and responsible for youth, said: “We would like to thank John for his unquestionable commitment, passion and professionalism and for the success he has delivered in building a youth development structure of which we at Warrington Wolves are proud.

“We would also like to sincerely thank him on behalf of the many parents of young players who have progressed though the system to become part of the first grade, and those who have not but have still benefited from John’s expert advice.

“Whether it was on the rugby or educational pathways, through his enthusiasm for the game or as part of the player development team John will leave a lasting memory for all who have worked with him over the last five years.”

Bastian will step down in November 2013.
