Barthau and Ackers granted Broncos release

London have agreed to the release of William Barthau and Andy Ackers for family reasons.

Barthau, 27, is expected to now link up with Toulouse having found spending time away from his family and partner too difficult.

Hooker Ackers, 23, is returning north having spent two years in the capital.

Coach Andrew Henderson said: “It’s very disappointing for the team, and as a coach, to lose any of our players – and perhaps these two in particular. A lot of time has gone into developing both Andy and William in their time here and they have become pivotal players within the team.

“Both players requested to be released due to family reasons. Andy to return back home to be able to support a close family member, and William to return to France to be with his partner, who he has been living away from for the past three years.

“The club has made the decision to allow them to leave and it will be a big loss for us. The challenge now is to find suitable replacements within our budget.

“I believe both William and Andy have both become better players for being here and working under our programme.

“They have made outstanding contributions to the team and the club in their time with the London Broncos. I enjoyed working with them both and wish them well in the next chapter of their careers.”

London are close to announcing the capture of a Super League player, as well as confirmation that two current players will be returning for next season.
