Barry Eaton: We’re expecting a backlash from Leigh

Hunslet coach Barry Eaton is not getting carried away after lying undefeated in the Northern Rail Cup.

The Hawks have beaten both Swinton and Whitehaven in this year’s competition, but now the south Leeds team face their strongest challenge to date.

Hunslet travel to the Leigh Sports Village, after Paul Rowley’s side threw away a 22-0 lead to lose 23-22 against Sheffield.

Eaton said: “At this moment in time we’ve got some players that want to knuckle down and prove a point that they deserve to be at this level.

“Recent results have indicated that Leigh will be right up there this season even though they let a big lead slip against Sheffield.

“We’re expecting a bit of a backlash from that and this week will be another benchmark for us to test ourselves.”

Hunslet have completed the signing of Sharlston three-quarter Gareth Davies and he could come into contention for Sunday’s game.
