Barrow Raiders have confirmed that they have signed prop Tom Walker from Warrington on a two-year deal.

Raiders rugby director Andy Gaffney believes that Walker will deveop ito a fine player at Barrow.

“When we knew Tom was available and expressed an interest, we acted very quickly and snapped him up as Tom is one of the stand out props for his age group in the county area,” he said.

“He has Super League experience with Warrington and comes in with a very good attitude.

“We said part of the deal was he had to live in Barrow and work in our community team with Joe Bullock.

“Because the travel up and down that coast road would not allow him to be at his best, he was more than happy to do that.

“Being part of a team with Oliver Wilkes. Martin Aspinwall and Ryan Fieldhouse in was a big factor as well as players of this experience and calibre can only help Tom with his ambitions in the game.

“We travelled to see Tom and his family and everyone is really looking forward to Tom coming down.

“Tom and his dad Shaun came and saw the academy in action and was very impressed with the rugby set up. He is an outstanding player to have in our side, and he can’t wait to rip it up.”
