It was reported in the national press earlier this week that Briers had agreed a three year deal with the Raiders starting next season.
A club statement said: “As far as the club are concerned he is still contracted to Warrington Wolves and remains their player. Briers was in Barrow at the weekend to attend the christening of Andy Bracek‘s baby.
“The Club Chairman met Briers at the evening celebration and spoke with him in general terms only. Any signing made by Barrow will follow the appropriate procedures and details are released by the club via the website.”
Yesterday, Briers expressed his desire to stay at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.
He said: “It would be nice to stay at Warrington but the club might want to go in a different direction, you never know. We haven’t started to talk about it yet.”
