Barrow complete Henderson signing

Barrow have swooped for Gateshead hooker Andrew Henderson, who is reunited with former head coach Steve McCormack.

Henderson, 30, moves to Craven Park for a second spell having spent some time in Cumbria six years ago before making his name in Super League with Castleford.

The Scotland international said: “It’s a great feeling to come back to the club where it all really started for me, although my first club was Salford I always felt that Barrow was where I was made most welcome and helped through the early days of my career.”

Henderson was half-way through a two-year deal at Gateshead, but the reform of the north east club meant all players were left free to find a new club, and Barrow have moved quickly to secure the services of the Australian.

Chairman Des Johnston said: “I’ve been an admirer of Andrews for a long time now and with the departure of Andy Ellis to pastures new we thought it best to bring someone in with experience to bring Nathan Mossop along even further.”
