Barrow centre suspended

Barrow have suspended centre Ian Bell after he refused to play for their reserve team against York at the weekend.

Bell, who has made four appearances for Barrow this season, scoring one try, has been suspended until further notice.

A club statement said: “As with all the contracted players Ian Bell has a clause in his contract which requires him to play for the Reserves if selected. He has not offered any suitable explanation for his refusal to play. The club regards this as a very serious breach of his contract. Bell has previously received warnings as to his conduct and this latest breach leaves the club with no option but to suspend him from the club until further notice.”

Raiders won the reserves game 44-6. The first team had a weekend off due to it being their bye-week in the odd-numbered Championship.
