Barrow boss to wield the axe

Barrow Raiders coach Nigel Wright has told his squad that he will not be scared of dropping so-called ‘senior’ players after last week’s 42-14 loss at Widnes.

Inconsistent Barrow have won only five of their 10 Co-operative Championship fixtures this term.

And while Wright missed last week’s match after being trapped in an 18-mile motorway tailback, he has made it clear that he will not shirk away from making tough decisions.

He told the North-West Evening Mail: “It’s a mental thing, Rugby League.

“If you turn up on the day, you’ll do all right. Don’t turn up and you’ll get beat by anybody and that’s what happened – I just don’t think we were at the races last week.”

Ned Catic remains unavailable as he serves a four-match suspension, while Toulouse Olympique have their own continuing injury problems.

Rory Bromley is ruled out, but Josh Lewis (back) and Damien Couturier (thigh) could recover in time to face Barrow.
