Barrow have announced the signing of forward Ethan Kelly for the 2022 Championship season.

The powerful prop makes the move from Whitehaven, having signed with the Championship club in 2019. The Millon amateur has recently linked up with the Raiders squad in pre-season, and has impressed head coach Paul Crarey.

“Ethan expressed interest in training with us with an opportunity to sign with the club,” said Crarey.

“He comes off the great Millom rugby league club production line. He has worked extremely hard and has come in with a great attitude and application and we are pleased that he has given himself the opportunity to sign for the club.”

Players director Andy Gaffney added: “Ethan approached us about coming in to train pre-season and has excelled in training with us through pre-season and has fitted in well.

“He has trained hard under our coaching staff and is very enthusiastic, earning himself a one-year deal. He is a hard runner. Ethan has a great attitude and should fit in well with the squad for our 2022 Championship campaign.”

The Raiders confirmed their 2022 squad numbers for their return to the Championship earlier in December.

New signing and former Super League half-back Jarrod Sammut has received the number seven shirt after making the switch during the off-season.

Elsewhere in the squad, Danny Langtree will wear number 11, while former Wakefield hooker Josh Wood has been handed number 22.
