Bani makes Cowboys switch

Premiership winning Manly winger Michael Bani has made the move to North Queensland in a deal which will see Ben Farrar make the opposite trip to Brookvale.

Bani, who was included in Papua New Guinea‘s World Cup training squad, was part of the Manly side which defeated Melbourne in the 2008 NRL Grand Final.

Farrar meanwhile, has opted to move to Sydney’s Northern Beaches after his management approached Cowboys officials with the proposition.

Cowboys coach Neil Henry said the club would not stand in Farrar’s quest to secure a long term contract.

He said: “We weren’t able to offer Ben a guarantee that he would have two or three years here. As a club we’re not going to deny him an opportunity to secure a contract if we can get a suitable replacement.”

“Bani’s from North Queensland and Ben’s from the Newcastle area so it suits in that regard but we acknowlegde that he has been great for us.”
