The Balmain Tigers have been given another month to repay its loan to the NRL for its share of the West Tigers.

Balmain owe the NRL $5.4 million and were due to pay the money back by March 31.

“Negotiations related to the restructure of the Wests Tigers NRL club have been extended by one month,” the NRL said in a statement.

“Constructive discussions were continuing between the NRL, Wests Magpies and Balmain Tigers over the future structure of the entity.

“As a result, the deadline for Balmain to repay a $5.4 million debt to the NRL has been extended until April 30.”

The Wests Tigers are half-owned by Balmain and Western Suburbs Magpies.
