Workington Town have signed six-time Super League winner Ryan Bailey for the 2018 season.

The 33-year-old was sacked by Championship outfit Toronto Wolfpack in the off-season but he will now join former Wolfpack team-mate Sean Penkywicz at Derwent Park.

Bailey will add a lot of experience to Leon Pryce’s Town side, having made over 330 career appearances.

And the former Great Britain and England international says he wants to help Workington gain promotion to the Championship this year.

“Everyone here wants to do better than last year and hopefully get promoted and I’m here to help them do that,” Bailey said.

“I played against Workington last year and they were a good, physical side and now they have a good mix of older and younger players.

“From a personal perspective, I just want to stay consistent and play hard. Obviously, we are striving to get promoted this year and I just want to do my best for the team.”

Bailey could make his debut for the club against Cumbrian rivals Whitehaven this Sunday in the Ike Southward Memorial Trophy at the Recreation Ground, 3pm kick-off.
