Bailey can’t wait to get stuck into Super League with Hull KR

New Hull KR prop Ryan Bailey is relishing his change of Super League scenery, and cannot wait to go into battle with his new team-mates.

The former Leeds Rhino will open his league campaign in the new year with a game against his former club at the KC Lightstream Stadium on February 8.

“It will be strange to play against Leeds but when the hooter goes it will be all guns blazing. I’ll be wearing the Rovers shirt so now it is 100 per cent Hull KR,” the forward told his club’s official website.

“Once we all get together and get the team bond I think we’ll go far.  It’s a fresh squad and everyone is hungry to train, get fit and learn things off ‘Chezzy’ [Rovers coach Chris Chester].

“I’ve got more ownership this year and will hope to be more of a leader in the team. We’ve already had some good sessions and I can’t wait to get amongst it.

“It’s very important that we have a close bond. We need to work for each other, not just ourselves, and that’s when we do well as a team.”

Bailey will link up in the Rovers front row with Mick Weyman, and hopes to forge an intimidating partnership with the aggressive Australian.

“We’re getting on really well,” Bailey added.

“We’ve bashed each other about in the past but now we are on the same team. As pre-season goes on we’ll get our plays together and we’ll hopefully strike up a good combination.”
