Australia’s Jillaroos have been paid $3,000 each following their one day test against New Zealand.

This is a huge increase on the amount the players were paid at the World Cup which amounted to $800 per game ($4,000 for five games).

Speaking to NRL.com, winger Karina Brown said: ““It just seems to get better and better each time and that’s all we’re really asking for. We got the 3k [thousand] match payment which was the most that we’ve received for a Jillaroos match.”

The men’s side earned $20,000 to play New Zealand; a game which the Kangaroos lost 24-26.

However, in their following game against PNG, they players did take a pay cut meaning they earned exactly the same as the women for that game, $3,000.
