Warrington Wolves player Ryan Atkins has been named Frontline Player of the Round following his performance during Warrington’s 64-6 win over Bradford Bulls in Round 23 of the Engage Super League.
Atkins compiled a total of 922 points in the Frontline rankings this week, with an impressive tally of four tries helping him on his way. He carried the ball 14 times for a total of 145 meters in attack, bursting 8 tackles and making 2 clean breaks and claiming a try assist as well.
Atkins has been joined in the Frontline team of the week by teammates Matt King and Joel Monaghan, who occupy both wing positions. Huddersfield Giants’ Graeme Horne has earned his place in the second centre position while St Helens’s stalwart Paul Wellens has been selected at full-back.
Wellens has been joined in the Frontline selection by teammate Tony Puletua who makes up the back row along with Giants’ Danny Kirmond and Hull FC’s Willie Manu. Catalan duo Jason Baitieri and Setaimata Sa have been placed in the prop and half-back positions respectively. Wigan Warriors’ Brett Finch joins Sa in the half-backs while Ryan Bailey of Leeds fills the remaining prop position and Lincoln Withers of Crusaders drops in to the hooker role.
Points are calculated from every action made by players with every involvement given a points value depending on the importance and frequency of the action. For example a try would be the highest scoring value, with actions such as tackles and carries scoring smaller values. Mistakes such as handling errors or penalties conceded would incur negative values.
At the end of a match, all the players’ actions are added together to give a game score. The 13 individuals with the highest scores in each position on the field of play earns inclusion in the Frontline Index Team of the Week with the highest scoring individual earning the Frontline Index Player of the Week title.
