Atkins gets shirty with Rhinos family

There could well be divided loyalties for the family of Warrington Wolves’ three-quarter Ryan Atkins as his side face Leeds Rhinos in the Carnegie Challenge Cup Final next Saturday.

Atkins will be facing his hometown club and he admits it will add extra spice to the tie, “It’s always a dream to play at Wembley but it’s going to be extra special because it’s against Leeds.

“I consider myself a Leeds United supporter but also followed the Rhinos when I was growing up and most of my family follow the club.

“They will all be at Wembley to cheer me on,” admitted the 24-year-old who signed for the Wolves last September from Wakefield.

Atkins has ensured his close family will be firmly behind the Wolves by giving them all a Warrington shirt.

“I don’t want them to be supporting the Rhinos at Wembley so I thought it would be a good idea to get them all kitted out in Warrington colours.

“There will be no conflict of interests but I will be checking on the day to see that they are wearing them!” he added.
