Aston refusing to underestimate Doncaster

Sheffield coach Mark Aston is not feeling complacent after it was revealed Doncaster’s Paul Cooke could miss his side’s match.

Sheffield travel to the Keepmoat Stadium on Sunday, and Cooke is expected to undergo a late fitness test before the match.

But Aston knows he cannot afford to take Doncaster lightly, with or without Cooke.

Aston said: “Doncaster have recruited really well and we played them a few weeks ago in a friendly and had it tough.

“It’s a challenge for us and we’ll have to be good, but I’m sure we can do the job.

The Sheffield legend was furious with his side for an hour, before coming back from 22-0 against Leigh to win 23-22.

Dominic Brambani dropped a goal to secure the win for the Eagles, but Aston was far from impressed.

He said: “They talk about a game of two halves, but this was a game of four quarters, and we were rubbish in three of them.

“But to win like that shows character and spirit because we hadn’t been great.”
