Aston impressed with Eagles’ response

Sheffield head coach Mark Aston says his players have responded perfectly to recent defeats against Featherstone and Toulouse by recording back-to-back home wins.

Aston told the Sheffield Star he is happy with how his team is progressing.

“We have found that ruthlessness, and that has taken it away from teams at times,” he said.

“That’s a great trait because you need to be able to hit back when things go wrong. We have done that now on a number of occasions this year.”

“The lads have been disappointed a couple of times, which shows the progress recently. The lads were really disappointed against Featherstone, and again against Toulouse – that is quite a statement.

“They have wanted to go back out there and put it right. That is a good characteristic to have.

“We have that bounce-back mentality in us now. I look at these guys and I can see that they want it more than anything. That has been evident recently. It hasn’t been vintage at times.

“There have been points when they have played too much as individuals, but when it counts we have delivered what we have needed to do.”
