Anthony Gelling will definitely be at Widnes in 2019

Anthony Gelling has pledged his full commitment to Widnes for the 2019 season.

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the Cook Islands international in recent times, including being linked with a move to French side Catalans Dragons.

The move has took a huge u-turn over the weekend, with Gelling admitting on social media last week that he didn’t think would play for Widnes in 2019.

On committing to Widnes in 2019, Gelling said: “There were a couple of basic visa things that needed to be sorted but my family will get their visas come early January, so I will train here for a few days and then I will go home and wait for my baby to be born.

“People were saying to me ‘you shouldn’t be down here in the Championship’ and I replied with ‘what’s your point? I’m too good for Super League!’

“It’s only my first proper day of pre-season, but there is a new coach, players and trainer so it is looking good.

“This could be really special season because we could go from getting kicked in the mouth last year to getting promoted back to Super League. I’m excited, it is going to be a lot of fun.”
