Anderson: Pressure isn’t getting to us

Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson says the pressure of avoiding the Middle 8s isn’t getting to his players.

The Giants were beaten by Castleford by eight points on Friday night.

Huddersfield are in 11th place on the Super League ladder with four wins from 17 games. The Giants are on eight points, with only Leeds below them on six.

Top online betting sites have Huddersfield as long as 4/1 to even make the top eight.

Anderson said there is always pressure on his team because of their achievements in recent seasons.

“Where we’ve been over the last few years there’s pressure on this team to perform to a very, very high standard, regardless of what league position you’re in,” he said.

“If you’re losing games the scoreline should suggest we were in it today, but I don’t think we ever were.

“I don’t think we were great. We’ve had pressure over the top four, why would be panicking over that?

“I just think we looked a team real down on energy.”
