Anderson muses on Giants’ full-back options

Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson is pleased that he has a full range of options to choose from again when it comes to the full-back position.

Anderson now has Ireland international Scott Grix, as well as Aaron Murphy and Jake Connor, available to pick from.

Which player he chooses depends on which game plan the Giants intend to use.

Scott Grix is now back to full health, he’s played a couple of games for Oldham,” Anderson told Radio Yorkshire.

Jake Connor I thought did pretty well against Wigan. So it’s a bit unfortunate for Grixy, but he’s a bit behind Jake at the moment, in regards to his game time and preseason.

“And obviously Aaron Murphy is there as well, so we’ve got some challenges, but they’re good headaches to have.

“They’re all fit and healthy, which is key as well.”

Anderson is pleased with the variety of traits that the three players offer to the squad.

“They all bring different things,” the coach explained.

“‘Murph’ is a very safe player. It doesn’t matter where you play him, he’ll come up with a seven out of 10 performance.

“Jake is very young, and Grixy’s very experienced. But they all bring different things.

“Grixy is effort-based in what he does, with a bit of cunning in there. Jake is an unbelievable talent.

“They’re all different players. It all depends on the way we want to play that week, which we’re going to go.”

Both Connor and Murphy are included in Huddersfield’s 19-man squad for Thursday evening’s clash with Leeds. Grix misses out, however.
