Huddersfield coach Paul Anderson has confirmed that back rower Chris Bailey will be out of action for around three months.

Both Bailey and new loan signing Jordan Cox will therefore not be in the squad when the Giants travel to the KC Stadium to face Hull FC this week.

Chris Bailey has got a ruptured bicep which he will be having surgery on on Friday,” Anderson told his club’s official website.

Craig Kopczak had a similar injury in 2013 but he still had a few fibres attached to his tendon, whereas Bailey’s have completely gone.

“He will be out for around 12 plus weeks. Jordan Cox has picked up a virus and will also not be available this week.

Michael Lawrence hasn’t been in the team the past couple of weeks and he has the opportunity and he will have the bit between his teeth to play well.”

Anderson is wary of Hull at the moment, and wants his team to play well defensively to counter the home team’s attacking threats.

“Hull have a lot of attacking threats in regards to the shapes they throw at you,” he explained.

“They have got threats all over the park – he’s got a good squad there has Lee Radford and they have got some threats.

“We have got to make sure we deal with it and physically match them and get stuck into their big players.”
