Anasta injury adds to Roosters’ woes

Sydney Roosters‘ season has gone from bad to worse after skipper Braith Anasta was ruled out for the rest of the season with a serious ankle injury.

Anasta suffered a broken and dislocated ankle in the Roosters’ 24-22 loss to North Queensland in Townsville – their sixth defeat in as many matches.

Anasta told the Daily Telegraph: “I’ve had scans and it’s a broken fibula and tibia, so it’s not good.”

“It’s disappointing. I’m not happy about it, but I’ve just got to deal with it, do some rehab and get myself back on track and come back bigger and better next year.”

The loss to the Cowboys followed a drunken incident involving beleaguered coach Brad Fittler.

A female occupant in the team hotel reported a heavily intoxicated Fittler banging on her door at around 3am.

Police escorted Fittler back to his room and took no further action, although the Roosters coach immediatley fined himself $10,000.

Fittler had apparently asked the permission of captain Anasta to have a drink with his fellow coaching staff.
