Anasta blasts ‘bizarre’ decisions

Sydney Roosters skipper Braith Anasta has attacked a number of refereeing decisions during his side’s defeat to Brisbane on Sunday.

Anasta’s men found themselves on the wrong side of several questionable decisions from referee Matt Cecchin, including one bizarre ruling which gifted a try to Broncos skipper Alex Glenn

“There’s not much you can say anymore,” Anasta told the club’s official website.

“I’m sick of talking about it, it’s just happened a lot this year. I wouldn’t say it has cost us the game because I think we probably cost ourselves the game tonight.

“But it doesn’t help and it’s frustrating – I don’t know how to approach it anymore. I don’t know how to talk to the ref. If you try and be too nice, you don’t get anywhere. If you go over the top you get criticised by the media.

“I don’t know if it’s just us, but I feel more so than any other year, it has affected our games and our performances immensely.”

Anasta, who will end his six year tenure with the Roosters at the end of the year when he joins Wests Tigers, admits the treatment from referees has been frustrating.

“When things aren’t going your way they’re not going your way,” added Anasta.

“We’re working hard to make sure we’re complying with what the referees want out of us, but we don’t feel like we’re getting the results out of that.

“It’s just frustrating as a captain – I’m the one who has to represent my players and get the best out of what they’re trying to say to me towards the referees, but we’re not getting anything back.”
